The CCYO

The Columbia County Youth Orchestra (CCYO) rehearses most Tuesday nights, 6:00-7:30pm, during the regular school year.  During the summer months, the CCYO rehearses on Thursday nights, 6:00-8:00pm.  Rehearsals for the CCYO are held at the 106 Shartom Dr., Augusta, Georgia.  This group is also conducted by Music Director Rob Nordan.  When Mr. Nordan began conducting this group, he saw the potential to grow students’ abilities to play wide variety of music.  This educational philosophy continues today.  The CCYO is open to 3rd year level through high school senior orchestral instrumentalists and performs between 3 and 5 concerts annually.  The CCYO has current personnel needs for all bowed string instruments, all winds, and some percussion.

The Columbia County Youth Orchestra is a creative environment where young musicians from the area come together to rehearse and perform symphonic music. The orchestra presents young musicians with the chance to study established masterworks and the exciting opportunity to premiere new music. Additionally, the orchestra offers a variety of unique enrichment experiences including working with guest artists and mentoring with our civic orchestras. Students with two years of instrumental experience are welcome to join. By providing an orchestral experience available to all students, the vision of the Columbia County Orchestra is to become a musical voice that embraces the entire community.
